After performing an inventory upload, the Quantity does not get updated to the reflect the new inventory value in the Inventory table.  The Inventory by location quantity does get updated.  Any suggestions?

You might check to see if the Sum Inventory on View Option is turned on in the system options.  There is a process that runs and updates the Inventory table when the View Inventory button on the workstation, or the Item Data form>Select the item, is run- as long as the sum on view option is turned on.

The Sum Inventory on View Option is selected in setup. Clearly there is a difference on table field QTY in each table.  Why wouldn't these changes be completed when the upload table "DoIt" command has been selected? I would not want to depend on selecting a View query to update my table. How can I reconcile the differences in quantity in the two tables?

The inventory table qty field isn't one you should use for determining or reconciling your inventory when examining your data directly through the tables.  It's a field that is used for a few of the applicaiton Item Data related screens, and as those screens are opened a process is run to update the field and make it available for display- likely because the forms are tied to the Inventory table for the remaining Item data information.
I believe there is a net balance field in the history table which represents the sum of the item number across all locations, or consider summing the qty of the item in the Inventory by location. Either of these would reveal total quantities of the item.  InventorybyLocation is the primary source of qty information and is what gets maintained in the upload transactions along with the history table.. hopefully this helps..
