Error copying data to device

With a fresh install of Package track 2.6, I get the following error:

"The data failed to transfer to the device. You may not be able to run Package Track on the handheld device."

I've tried using MS Activesync 4.5 & 4.2 and get the error using both. I've hard reset my Symbol PPT8800 and still no go. We have a serial cradle connected to Com 1. OS is XP SP2 if that makes a difference. We had this setup working on a similar machines running Win2k.

I wouldn't think I have to install the package track software to the handheld before I sync the database do I?

You will need the Package Track software installed on the handheld before you try to sync.
