Signature field in report
« on: June 30, 2005, 06:11:50 pm »
Am using Access (not Package Track "Custom Report" utility to create our own reports of data collected with Package Track.  I want to include the graphic signature on the reports..When I place the signature field from the signature table in my report, I just get the alphanumeric code instead of the signature graphic.  How would I get the actual signature graphic to appear on my reports?  Thanks.

I believe the signature is stored in some kind of algorithmic text format in the database that an active x control; which is embedded in the application, can decipher.  It is a leaner way to store the signature rather than converting to an image of some sort.  I am not certain if the active x control is visible, or accessible through access/registered on the PC.  I will be near a Package Track install tomorrow and will try to look that up in case it can help you out.

Thanks for your reply.  I would really like to find a solution to this one because the default Package Track reports are not useful to us.

A person with more experience in Access suggested that the solution may be to install onto my desktop a "font" which will translate the alphanumeric signature code into a graphic representation in the same way that an alphanumeric part number is translated into a bar code in other applications.  I would then name that "font" in the properties of the signature memo field on my report design.  Does this approach sound feasible to you?  If so, where would I find such a "font"? Thanks again.

Have you found anything that may help with my trying to include signatures in my Access reports?  Thanks.

There is no font such as that.  We do have an algorithm for decoding the string value back into a signature and creating a bitmap image, but we can't post it here.  If you get in touch with Software Services they may be able to help you create the report you want.
